What’s in a name?

We’re excited to announce that at the end of November 2021, we’ll be saying goodbye to Happiness Lab, the brand identity that we adopted back in 2016 when this journey started and reintroducing ourselves to the world under our new name Harkn

 

We’ve known for a long time that as great as it feels to be part of a business called Happiness Lab (it’s a great name), it was becoming further removed from what we do.

Today, we are a tool that gives employees a voice and helps employers to listen.  We’re a safe space for employees to share their experiences.  We’re a device that allows companies to monitor employee wellbeing.  We are a feedback mechanism to help leaders understand the effects of their decisions and the context in which their people operate. 

Since we first realised that our daily check-in routine allowed us to see the early warning signs of burnout, the world has changed a great deal, and so have we. 

We have a great product, and it is time for our identity to catch up.

We’ve derived our new name from the old English word harken (or hearken), which means to listen attentively, to prick up one's ears.  There almost couldn’t be a better way to describe what we offer.

This new identity fits much more closely with what we do today and the strategic direction of our product. 

Harkn is all about helping you to listen effectively and to pay attention to what's going on inside your business, for your people.  It gives everyone in your company a voice and signifies your commitment to listening to your people and taking their wellbeing seriously.
